Important CableOne.net Service Announcement September 2, 2003 Valued Cable One Customer, CableOne is making a change to our network. During the next few weeks, for security reasons, we will begin the process of blocking Port 25 traffic from residential-level accounts (except for traffic to mail.cableone.net). Port 25 is how a mail program such as Outlook express sends mail from your outbox. This change will not affect most customers. However, if the "Outgoing Mail Server- SMTP" setting in your email client software is configured for anything other than mail.cableone.net, you may experience problems sending mail. If you have your email client software configured with multiple email accounts you may need to modify each account so that the "outgoing mail server - SMTP " setting says mail.cableone.net. This change will not restrict you from retrieving messages from any other servers. It is applied only to messages being sent from your computer. If you have a mail server or run programs on your computer that act as a mail server, you may have an issue. Note that Cable One's Acceptable Use Policy does not permit servers on residential-level accounts. This change will not affect business-level accounts nor does it require a change of e-mail address. Please see our FAQ for more details or call our Solutions Center 1-877-692-2253 if you have any questions. We are dedicated to providing you with a state-of-the-art high-speed Internet service and will continue to improve our service in the months and years ahead. Thank You, Cable One |
