    My Mail - Basic Questions

What is MyMail and how do I access the website?

MyMail is the Cable One, online, mail service. It enables you to check your Cable One email from any computer with an internet connection. To access your email using the MyMail service, visit the following website: http://mymail.cableone.net. Once the page has loaded, enter your Cable One username (the first part of your email address minus the @cableone.net) and the password linked with that username. For password assistance, please visit http://help.cableone.net/email/patrol/trouble.aspx.

Why does my email disappear from MyMail after I check it using Outlook Express?

When you use a program, such as Outlook Express, to download your email from our computers to yours, it ends its connection by deleting all the emails from our computers. If you would like Outlook Express to leave a copy of your emails on our computers after downloading them, please review the question below.

How do I use Outlook Express, but leave the message on the server so I can still view it using your MyMail service?

From within Outlook Express this is very simple to do. Simply follow the steps below:
1) Click on tools at the top of the program and choose accounts.
2) Select the mail tab at the top of the pop-up box.
3) Click once on your Cable One account to select it and choose the Properties button on the right hand side.
4) Click on the Advanced tab at the top of the new pop-up box.
5) At the bottom of the Advanced page you will see a category titled Delivery. Check in the box next to “Leave a copy of messages on server".
6) You can now choose to remove the messages from our computers after a select number of days, remove it from our computers when you delete it from your deleted items folder in Outlook Express, or you can leave both options unchecked and it will leave it on our computers until it is deleted from within MyMail.
7) Once you have made your selections select the OK button on both pop-up boxes. It will now leave the messages on our computers.
* For other email programs, besides Outlook Express, please see the programs help files for assistance.
** Warning: Email left on our computer affects your total email space available.

Why does MyMail block all images in my emails?

Inline images can be a source of viruses, malware, spyware, and are sometimes just plain offensive. MyMail will block any images that are linked to a remote website and not part of the actual email. This is for your protection. If you would like to view the images, simply click “Display Images in Message” at the top of the email you are viewing.

Can MyMail be set to allow images to be displayed from a specific sender?

Yes. If you add the sender to your Address Book, any images contained in emails they send you will automatically be displayed. Click ‘Always display images from this user’ at the top of the message or ‘Address Book’ in the left menu to add the sender.

Can MyMail be set to always allow images to be displayed from any sender?

While we do not recommend allowing all images to be displayed by default, you can make this change in the ‘Settings’ menu. Change the ‘Block images in email messages’ option to ‘Display for any message’ and all images will be displayed by default.
