Double click on MY COMPUTER. Double click on DIAL-UP NETWORKING. (In Windows Millennium Edition, Dial-Up Networking is located in the Control Panel). 
Right click on your connection to CableONE.Net (it may have various names), then click on PROPERTIES. 
A new window will appear. To verify you are dialing the correct access NUMBER, click here. "Use area code and Dialing Properties" is unchecked, which grays out the Area Code box. Click on the SERVERS TYPES tab located across the top. 
Type of Dial Up Server: PPP. Under "Advanced options", ENABLE SOFTWARE COMPRESSION is checked. Under "Allowed network protocols" only TCP/IP is checked. Click on the TCP/IP SETTINGS button located in the lower right. 
SERVER ASSIGNED IP ADDRESS is bulleted. Farther down, SERVER ASSIGNED name SERVER ADDRESSES is also bulleted. And the last two boxes are checked. FINISHED - Click OK, click OK again, then close the Dial-Up Networking window. |
