Q. What is DMCA? A. DMCA stands for Digital Millennium Copyright Act. This is a law enacted by Congress to protect the rights of copyright holders such as musicians, movie companies, etc. Q. Why was my Internet service shut off? A. A formal DMCA complaint was sent to Cable One regarding your account and to comply with DMCA standards Cable One must disable and/or remove access to the infringing material. Please read the complaint for a description of the alleged infringement. This information will help you complete the counter notice. Q. How do I get my service turned back on? A. You must send or fax the following counter notice information to Cable One, Inc. 1) Case number 2) Your signature 3) Identification of the material that has been removed or to which access has been disabled and the location at which the material appeared before it was removed or access to it was disabled. 4) A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief that the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistakes or misidentification. 5) Your name, address, CableONE username, and telephone number. 6) A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court in which you are located, and that you will accept service of process from the complainant.
