| Configure Wireless on Windows XP |

| After you've set up wireless security on your cable modem or router, you'll need to configure the wireless properties on each computer. |

| Step 1: |
| Right-click the wireless connection icon in the notification area (bottom right corner icons), and then click “View Available Wireless Networks”. (View Screenshot) |

| Step 2: |
| Click the “Advanced” button (View Screenshot) |
|
|
|
| Step 3: |
| Select the “Wireless Networks” tab |

| Step 4: |
| Select the wireless network you would like to connect to from the “Available Networks” list and click the “Configure” button (View Screenshot) |

| Step 5: |
| Select the proper security type (matching your previously setup cable modem or router security configuration) from the “Network Authentication” drop down box. For this example we will select “WPA-PSK”. (View Screenshot) |

| Select the proper encryption type from the “Data encryption” drop down box. For this example, we will select “TKIP”. (View Screenshot) |

| Step 7: |
| Enter the Shared Secret/Passphrase that you entered when configuring the wireless cable modem or router under “Network key”. |

| Step 8: |
| Enter the Shared Secret/Passphrase a second time under “Confirm network key”, and then click OK. |

| Step 9: |
| If the wireless network is not already listed under “Preferred networks”, select the “Add” button to configure the connection as a preferred wireless network. (View Screenshot) |

| Step 10: |
| Enter your wireless network information (exactly as was done in previous steps) under the “Association” tab. (You will need to manually enter the Wireless Network Name (SSID)). (View Screenshot) |

| Step 11: |
| Select the “Connection” tab and make sure that “Connect when this network is in range” has a check mark in the box. |

| Step 12: |
| Click “OK” to close the window. |
|
| Step 13: |
| Click “OK” to close the next window. |
|
| You should now be able to successfully connect to your extremely-secure wireless cable modem or router. |
