| Using a Router on Your Home Network |

| ** If using a wireless router please follow the manufacturer’s instructions to secure your wireless device (example: Configuring WEP security)

| Step 1: |
| Power down and turn off your Computer (this includes any other Computers). (View Diagram) |
|
|
|
| Step 2: |
| Physically unplug the power from the Cable Modem. (Even if your Cable Modem has a power button unplug the power cord.) (View Diagram) |
|
|
|
| Step 3: |
| After the lights go out on the Cable Modem, count to five and then plug in the power to the Cable Modem. (Do not power up any other device.) (View Diagram) |

| Step 4: |
| Wait until the "Cable Light" goes solid on your Cable Modem. (Depending on your brand of Cable Modem you may not have a designated "Cable Light".) (View Diagram) |

| Step 5: |
| Power up the Router. Once the router has made all connections (see the routers owner manual), turn your computer(s) on to connect to the Internet. (View Diagram) |
